Laying at the beach or hanging out by the pool is a summer must. There are so many beach/summer trends that can keep your water side look fresh enough that you'll want to wear them all day. Don't be afraid to express your personal style by the water. This summer take your beachy ways further than the sand so that you can stretch out that summer look all day long, especially for lunch after a long day of soaking in the sun.
Beach look one

Wildfox Couture / Topshop swim suit / River Island , $24 / Dorothy Perkins / Adia Kibur gold jewelry / Karen Walker

ALL BLACK ERR'THANG. Black and gold is a trend that I can't get off my mind on or off of the beach. This simple yet retro black bikini is so classic and sexy. I can't think of anything better to throw over it than an oversized summer words graphic by Wildfox. The perfect way to top off this chic waterside look is chunky tortoise shell shades (like these classic Karen Walker's), a pair of studded jelly sandals, and chunky gold CHAINNNNN *in 2 Chainz voice*. Just add a top knot - and done.

Beach look four

White dress, $30 / Hot Anatomy bandeau top, $97 / River Island brown shoes, $60 / Linda Farrow Luxe round glasses / Cult Gaia daisy headband

This boho look is perfect for a free spirit! Throw this flower crown over your salt water waves and layer this crotchet dress over your fringe bikini for a look that can go further than the beach. Don't forget some brown sunnies and Minnetonka fringe sandals!

beach look three

Filles A Papa neon one piece swimsuit, $240 / Accessorize sparkle flip flops / Dimepiece adjustable hat / Short sleeve t shirt

Bring out your inner bad girl with an edgy fun beach look. This graphic one piece is a bit of a splurge but you can find great graphic swimsuits at Black Milk Clothing and at Miss Guided. A black mesh t-shirt is the perfect cover up and this leopard print five panel hat by Dimepiece can tame that beachy mane and keep your nose from getting burnt.

Beach look two

Pieces low back cocktail dress, $32 / Topshop high waisted bathing suit / Colors Of California bow sandals, $41 / Stretch headband / Heart sunglasses

Nothing says fun and flirty like a retro two-piece, heart shaped sunnies, and a printed fashion turband. A low back jersey dress and some jelly sandals keep this look fresh enough to leave the sand and explore the land.

I thought I'd take one of my favorite pieces: the silk shirt, and use it as a featured item on my blog! I picked a simple silk blouse from H&M ($24.95) and decided to show the many ways to dress it up and dress it down with other pieces and accessories.

The Shirt: How to dress it down

Dressing down is a phrase that comes to mind when I think of going shopping, going out to lunch, running errands, or going to class. The silk top is definitely a piece that can be worn down in many ways:

  • Ombre cut offs, thigh high, socks, Dr Martens, and a neon bag.
  • Printed leggings (tribal, floral, galaxy, etc.), a piece of cross jewelry, and a neon bag.
  • Destroyed denim, brown riding boots, topped of with a neon bag.
Nothing says cute and casual like a messy bun or wavy hair with a beanie. Plus, wearing only mascara on your eyes during the day gives you the perfect clean slate to get ready to go out at night!

The Shirt: How to dress it up

Whether you're going to a bar/lounge, an event, a party, or out to dinner there are ways to dress up this top without looking like you're going to the office (yuck):

  • Leather skinnies, a rhinestone collar, a heeled sandal, and an awesome hard clutch.
  • Peplum skirt, some skull earrings, a heeled sandal, and a pop color clutch.
Lately there's nothing sexier than a slicked back ponytail or bun with some false lashes!
